A couple of early spring crops that lend themselves to early high tunnel production are radishes and spinach. By filling the rows alongside some of our later crops, like raspberries, we are able to utilize the space that some growers would call wasted. These areas are just perfect for our spinach and radishes. Our production quantities are quite small with these two crops, grown mainly for our CSA shares but you may find them at our larger garden centers as well.

Prep and Storage

  • Store radishes for up to two weeks in a plastic bag in the refrigerator, separate from the radish greens. Use as soon as possible
  • Daikon and winter radish varieties can store longer in a cool location, such as a refrigerator wrapped in damp paper towel

How to Use

  • Enjoy radishes raw, either whole, sliced, or grated into salads
  • Steam for 8-12 minutes until tender but not mushy. Roll in butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
